2. In Aug. 2012, “Bald Sisters” – In Guangzhou and Beijing, YFAS shaved their hair to protest against college admission policies that discriminate against women.

3. On Nov. 26, 2012, YFAS staged a dancing flash mob in front of the building of the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau in Hubei to  protest against the gynecological examination required specifically of women candidates during  public servant recruitment.

4. On Feb. 28, 2013, “Sending out Sweet Potatoes” – YFAS staged a performance art piece in front of the Office of Recruitment and Examination, Guangzhou, where they sent out sweet potatoes to the educational officials as a protest against their inaction to the universities’ discriminatory admission policies.

 

2013年2月28日,廣州市招考辦門口,女權行動派以「送番薯」給官員行為藝術反對他們對高校招生性別歧視置諸不理。

Relevant Influences of Events 2 and 4: In May 2013, the Ministry of Education issued a regulation that forbids all universities in China to have any fixed ratio between male and female in their admission, except the special schools/majors exempted by the state, namely military, homeland security and public security, etc.

事件2和4的相關影響:2013年5月,教育部下發《2013年普通高等學校招生工作規定》,規定「除軍事、國防和公共安全等部分特殊院校(專業)外,高校不得規定男女生錄取比例。」

 

 

5. On April 10, 2013, YFAS wore costumes of ancient people to protest employers’ sexism in employment a  job recruitment fair inside the Xi’an Sport Center, Market, Xi’an.

6. On June 18, 2013, YFAS were dressed as pregnant ladies in front of the office building of the tech company Meituan in Beijing to protest against its firing a pregnant employer.

7. On Nov. 13, 2013, YFAS were dressed as the ancient heroine Mu Guiying to protest against gender discrimination in workplace inside the Sports Stadium, Shaanxi Province, where a large-scale job fair was being held.

8. From 2013 on, a series of lawsuits against sexism in workplaces were filed:

從2013年開始,一系列就業性別歧視訟訴:

 

1)The first court session of the first lawsuit against gender discrimination in workplace in China, which was filed by a recent college graduate Cao Ju against a tech company in Beijing, was held in Haidian District People’s Court of Beijing on Dec. 18, 2013.

 

2013年12月18日,北京海淀區人民法院,中國性別就業歧視第一案——曹菊訴招聘單位北京巨人環球教育科技有限公司開庭。

Result:  Cao Ju and the corporation agreed to settle out of court. The corporation agreed to make an apology to Cao and pay  RMB30,000 as a fund devoted to gender equality in employment before Dec. 20, 2013.

結果:雙方達成一致,並當庭作出調解,被告願意向曹菊道歉並在2013年12月20日前支付人民幣3萬元作為「關愛女性平等就業專項資金。」

 

2) Before the commencement of the trial in a lawsuit filed by a recent college graduate named Guo Jing (aka Huang Rong) against a culinary vocational school for gender discrimination in workplace, women from 11 cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou, wrote open letters in July 2014 to the Supreme People’s Court, All-China Women’s Federation, and Hangzhou West Lake District People’s Court, where the trial would be held.

2014年7月,杭州市西湖區人民法院,郭晶(化名黃蓉)告東方烹飪職業技能培訓學校,期間有北京、上海、杭州等11個城市的女生寄公開信給最高人民法院、全國婦聯及杭州市西湖區人民法院。

Result: On Nov. 14, Hangzhou West Lake District People’s Court ruled that the culinary vocational school was guilty of gender discrimination, and demanded the school to pay Guo RMB2000 to compensate for her mental distress. This was the first ruling in favor of someone suing for gender discrimination in the workplace in China.

結果:11月14日,浙江杭州西湖法院對女大學生起訴新東方烹飪學校就業性別歧視案作出一審判決,認定新東方烹飪學校存在性別歧視,並且要求新東方烹飪學校賠償黃蓉精神損害撫慰金2000元。這是首宗關於職場性別歧視的勝訴。

 

 

3)In Jan. 2015, the first court session of a lawsuit filed by a  college graduate named Ma Hu against an express delivery courier in Beijing for telling her that women were not appropriate for such a position was held in Beijing Shunyi District People’s Court.

 

2015年1月,北京市順義區人民法院,馬戶告北京某郵政公司就女性不適合當郵遞員一案開庭。

Result: On Oct. 30, the court gave its judgment. While not recognizing all the claims made by Ma Hu, the court ruled that the courier was guilty of employment discrimination. The courier was required to compensate the plaintiff RMB120 for the cost of employment body check, RMB2000 for mental distress, and RMB6450 for the cost of appraisal within seven days after the court ruling. The court dismissed other claims made by Ma Hu. In March 2016, the court that heard the final appeal of the case upheld the original sentence requiring the courier to pay RMB2000 as compensation without requiring the company to offer an apology.

結果:10月30日,法院判決未認可馬戶提出的所有訴訟請求,但確認郵政公司對其實施了就業歧視,判決被告於本判決生效之日起七日內賠償原告入職體檢費用120元、精神損害撫慰金2000元、鑒定費6450元。駁回馬戶的其他訴訟請求。2016年3月,馬戶案終審判決,保持原判2000元的賠償,沒有道歉。

 

4)On Sept. 17, 2015, the first court session of a lawsuit filed by a college graduate Gao Xiao against a food and beverage company for accepting only male applicants for the position of a cook was held in the Guangzhou Haizhu District People’s Court.

 

2015年9月17日,廣州海珠區人民法院,高曉告廣東惠食佳經濟發展有限公司一案就女性不適合當廚師一案開庭。

Result: On Sept. 21, 2016, the court that heard the appeal of the case upheld the original sentence, which required the company to pay RMB2000 as compensation, while also requiring the company to offer an apology and bear the litigation cost in addition to the original sentence.

結果:2016年9月21日,二審的判決書,保持一審原判2000元的賠償,增加支持了賠禮道歉一項,並且重新分配了訴訟費用,由被告承擔。
