Les+

Les+

Founded in 2005 by a group of volunteers in Beijing, Les+ was a non-profit organization working on the dissemination of queer culture in China. It launched the first publicly published lala  (LBT - lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people) magazine Les+ in China. Les+ aimed to foster queer culture through arts and media advocacy; document and represent the culture of and current situation facing lala through cultural transmission; eliminate discrimination against lala; and advance their equal rights in order to create a possible future of diversity, equality and liberty.

Besides publishing Les+, the organization also co-organized media public relations workshops on and for the LGBT community and workshops on the use of the media to give a voice to the LGBT community. It also published two guidebooks about media and LGBT issues – Guidebook on Reporting LGBT News and Guidebook on LGBT People’s Speaking Out.

In 2015, the founder of Les+ announced that the publication of Les+ would stop and that she would focus on her new project Yummy – an app on women’s sexual pleasure.
